I am interested in a position within the Network Telecommunications or IT industry leveraging my experience in fiber optics hardware/systems design and/or my educational background;

 

I have a proven record of implementing creative and innovative solutions to technically difficult and challenging jobs. Commensurate with these skills I bring experience in management and project control both in a team and individual environment.

 

A highly motivated individual having operated and run my own business installing networks and nautical electronics using advanced technology; contracting with companies to implement difficult assignments on a project basis; managing construction and splicing operations while supervising a crew of 5 on up to 10 locations. While a senior in high school I designed and implemented their campus network while working with senior educational personnel.

 

I have recently graduated from the University of West Florida, completing a degree in Information Technology, with an emphasis in Telecommunications, Engineering and Management.

 

Note:  While attending University I have maintained full time employment in the service industry which allowed me the necessary time/income flexibility necessary to hone my management skills and abilities during unique and challenging job assignments within a diverse work force.

·   Managed and supervised the operations of both construction and splicing projects involving as many as 5 crews and 10 locations.

·   Supervised and performed cable preparation, closure preparation, single fusion splicing, bare fiber testing, hot cuts, fiber restoration, troubleshooting, field engineering, and OTDR testing.

·   Performed job walks, project quotes and the coordination of projects.

·   Contracted to COX communications, during the hurricane IVAN emergency, completed restoration of the optical plant that suffered over 200 hits in a 5 week time span.

·   Contracted to Level 3 communications, Aerial to Underground conversion in downtown Pensacola in compliance with the city’s beautification project.

·   Contracted to ICG Communications; personally completed multiple Oakland to San Francisco BBC/Bart hot cuts with no traffic interruption.

·   Installed Automobile traffic monitoring network systems at 28 locations for the entire cities of Cupertino CA, and Milpitas CA. 

·   Contracted to Comcast; installed CATV networks for the cities of both Oakland CA, and Chico CA, with their very different urban environments.

 

Sr. Fiber Optic Technician                11/2000 – 07/2002

 

·   Performed and trained other crews on cable preparation, closure preparation, single and mass fusion splicing, bare fiber testing, hot-cuts, fiber restoration, troubleshooting, power meter testing, and OTDR testing.

·   Supervised the installation of laterals for the city of Monterrey; branches off of the Comcast network connecting city hall, police stations, fire stations, their network center, the Monterey convention center and other city-run facilities.

·   Contracted to Broadwing Communications; managed and directed the construction of the Corvis Longhaul project, a Wide Area Optical Network running from Los Angeles, through San Francisco and Portland to Seattle, then east along I-80 to Chicago.

·   Contracted to ICG Communications, Inc.; I was responsible for retrofits on live cables in the Metropolitan Area Network involving the cities of Oakland, San Francisco, San Jose, as well as Sacramento with on-time completion and with no interruption of traffic to vital services.
